Stage Poetry: My Experience

Sometime in 2016, I approached the stage to perform one of my poems. Though I had sworn in the rudimentary stage of my life as a poet, to stick to the writing part. I thought getting the poems that will connect most, with my readers, as well as myself,  is penning down. I had not gotten use to the sound of my voice, so my ability to convey my arts through vocal expression was indeed lacking.

The New Age Poetry Renaissance

Some part of me have been grappling with, recreating an authentic poetry vibrancy on the internet. I have termed this 'New Age Poetry Renaissance' to capture its essence. Well, I have always been a firm believer of the globalization of poetry, using the internet as a veritable channel, even though for long, poetry has witnessed a sluggish movement( or growth) in keeping up with the pace of other art forms.

Elusi's Chant Of Fury

Feeling down,
the spiral weightlessness
send surge to my brain.

How To Find Your Voice Artistically

Finding and building your voice can be very tasking  for a poet. This could be a tricky task, the biggest tool of poetry: language, creates nothing more than a quick channel to project immediacy, which lies in its expression but when we try to pen down or type the musings of our mind, the gateway to expression shuts, and what we are flooded with the voices of other writers. Great talents make great use of language; the palette, brush and paint, in which we pick to create our unique artistic style is copyright protected.

How to Compose a Poem For Beginners 1

One honest truth is that poetry is an art form that is enjoying rapid decline. So, in this age and time, it is not strange that some people may not understand what a poetry is. The limitless significance, of  content of a poem. It is not much of a big deal, if you do not have a foreknowledge of what poetry connotes. People think of 'Twinkle, twinkle little star', which is very popular in nursery rhyme books. A ferocious hunger grip others, at the mention of the word 'poem'. Few others are excited at the prospect of writing a poem, because they recognize the rich value of poetry. But how about those who feel burdened by the weight of despair at the prospect of writing a poem? This article is for you

Who Should Crave For Poems?

Our very own society is defined by elegance, as well as uselessness; swiftness and well as staidness. We live in an 'unpoetic' time. Prose is in the air we breathe, and prose is what we consume, as well as dwell in. prose, exist in a form that is, at times, benign, and could even nourish our minds, most times. But to exist in a world, where the manner of social convention is badly-written and blunderingly spoken prose is tantamount to lacking the ability to use the full power of language.

The Gong And The Night

gbom!
gbom!
gbom!

he held the coal-stained gong with overzealous notoriety
his thin foot battled furiously with the thick thorn of the bush paths

Her

what is phenomenal yet so rough to touch?
why do my heart flutter when I hear of such?
if she is rare but glitters...why don't people follow her light?

An Ode To Lagos

Lagos
The city by the sea
The hope of hustler

Life!

LIFE!

Life! nothing but a walking shadow
partial and wicked with irregularities like the meadow
pains like a needle in wounds
what is pains other than our lives?
what is wound rather than the tears we shed
we may live like this for long
